Bellagio Italy is a stunningly beautiful village on Lake Como and a wonderful place for romantic vacations. If you are not staying in Bellagio, plan to come early in the morning and spend a full day.
There are so many things to see and do and you would also want to take time and relax and dine in this lovely setting. While you walk around on the cobblestone and streets and winding pathways, you will discover the unique shops, restaurants, and boutiques.
In and around Bellagio are many hiking trails and bike paths which you may want to explore. One of the famous hiking trails is located on the property of the Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni. The promenade along Lake Como is also wonderful and at the end of it is the lovely Villa Melzi.
I had heard about this town many times and placed it on my list of vacation ideas, but when I actually visited Bellagio, it exceeded my expectations.
It’s no wonder that Bellagio is often called the pearl of Lake Como.
Bellagio Italy sits on the tip of a peninsula separating the lake's two arms of an upside down Y-shaped lake.
From here you can see the Alps across the lake to the north.
The foothills of the Alps surround the region of Lake Como.
The sub tropical climate provides the perfect environment for the luxurious trees and flowers with the average temperature during winter never dipping below 6-7 C°, and summer temperatures usually staying around 25-30 C°, moderated during the afternoon by the breva, the gentle breeze of Lake Como.
You can plan many day trips with the ferries and hydrofoils or boat tours.
There are several options for water sports and a train tour, which are available during the summer season.
Bellagio is a great place for walking tours as many paths take you along the lake, the romantic promenade and over the hills to charming hamlets and picturesque viewpoints of the lake.
In the evening, Bellagio turns into a haven for lovers, and passion is felt everywhere under the moonlit sky.
Bellagio Italyis a splendid choice for romantic vacations.
There are many international musical events and festivals held in the local churches in Bellagio.
Museum of Navigational Instruments – This is a 25 minute walk from Bellagio to the hamlet of San Giovanni and can be reached either on foot, public boat, or on the tourist train during the summer. Plan a morning trip as the museum is open daily and mornings only.

Basilica di San Giacomo was built between 1075 and 1125 and is located at the top of the Bellagio historic center.
The church is Lombard Romanesque style and houses mosaics, a 12th century cross, and a 15th century triptych.
As you can see, the church is surrounded by lovely classic Bellagio homes and restaurants.
In Bellagio Italy there is no shortage of outdoor restaurant patios and terraces. Just walk around and select a delightful spot.
You can pick and choose different patios for every day of your vacation.
Like everything else in Bellagio and on Lake Como, the architecture is stunning and surpasses your expectations.
If you love art, architecture and art history, come expecting to satisfy your senses with intrigue and adventure.

Villa Melzi, located at the south end of Bellagio was built around 1808 and has a park with sculptures and a garden known for beautiful azaleas and rhododendrons.
The villa is open from the end of March to the beginning of November and the admission includes the museum and neo-classical chapel.
For your romantic vacations in Bellagio, take the time to wander around Villa Melzi and its English style gardens with its grand monuments, artefacts, precious Egyptian statues, luxurious trees, rare exotic plants, hedges of camellias and azaleas, giant rhododendrons, neoclassic glass house and the chapel.
Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni and Villa Serbelloni Park, located to the left of the ferry docks has 18th century English gardens and great views of the lake.
The park is open from April to early November.
The Villa Serbelloni is home to The Rockefeller Foundation which is a prominent philanthropic organization.
Its central historical mission is "to promote the well-being of mankind throughout the world."
This is a wonderful venue for influential artists, scholars, scientists, writers, policymakers and other professionals from around the world to gather together and exchange ideas of their work for a greater cause.
The setting of Villa Serbelloni is magical and the views of this villa and vistas surrounding it are majestic and magnificent for romantic vacations.
As I mentioned in my article about Lake Como Italy, consider dining in Villa Serbelloni's Michelin-starred restaurant, one of the best-respected in Europe or enjoy the meal on their terrace.
